Honoring Long Time Member – Elmer Wienclawski
This year, at the annual Installation of Officers and Award Banquet held in January, the Brighton Fire Company was honored to recognized our long time member Elmer Wienclawski. At 99 years young, Elmer has seen a lot throughout his life and his over 60 years of service as a member of our company. In addition to his service with Brighton, Elmer is a WWII and Korean War veteran.
On February 14th, Elmer was recognized by Senator Chris Jacobs as the 60th Senate District Veteran of the Month. In addition to acknowledging his service to our Country and local community, Elmer was recognized for his actions during a house fire where he performed a life-saving rescue years ago.
Elmer is known as one amazing person to sit down and have a conversation with, and Keith McShea from the Buffalo News had that opportunity. The link below is the wonderful article written about Keith’s conversation with Elmer.
