Brighton responds mutual aid to fatal apartment fire

273-rosemont Brighton and Sheridan Park firefighters were alerted just after 9:30 this morning to 273 Rosemont Ave. for a report of smoke coming from the second story of an apartment complex with a possible victim trapped inside.  Upon arrival, Sheridan Park 9-3 assumed command and reported smoke from the second story of the complex.  Brighton chief’s were preparing to make a rescue from the apartment when the first trucks arrived on scene.  Initial crews had difficulty gaining access into the apartment involved but were finally able to make entry, begin a primary search, and make a quick knock down on the fire.  Crews did locate the body of a male victim in the apartment who was deceased.  Investigation continues by the Town of Tonawanda Police as to whether the victim passed away as a result of the fire or prior to it.  Kenmore Fire Dept. and City of Tonawanda (FAST Team) also assisted at the scene.  Ellwood Fire Co. filled in at Sheridan Park’s Station 1.
